Curiously, Ciara turned down the wick of her lantern, extinguishing the flame, its light now replaced by the faint and mysteriously untraceable source of light from around and above her. It had an had an earthy texture to it, bathing everything in a creamy color. It was the light of decay. With a slight shudder, Ciara glanced up at the ceiling, noting an intricate blue pattern that was breathtaking in its beauty. The construction of the pyramid left her mind spinning at the abilities of the ancient civilization.

The 3,000-year layer of dust that coated the piles did little to mask the wealthy magnificence of the treasure room. Ciara was too stunned for words at the sheer magnitude of it all. She allowed her greed to give her good senses time off, causing her to miss out on the sudden and dreadful stale scent of decay permeating the air, followed by a slow and shambling shuffle against the sandy stone floor. She was touching it all, imagining what she would do with… when the particular scent of decay tickled her nose, causing the hairs to stand up on the back of her neck.
